"GOD, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform... I'll give you exactly 15 min."

I had to share this. I would love to have the courage to do this to people that say stupid things sometimes.

If you don't know GOD, don't make stupid remarks!!!!!!
A United States Marine was taking some college courses
between assignments. He had completed 20 missions in Iraq and
Afghanistan . One of the courses had a professor who
was an avowed athei...st, and a member of the ACLU.
One day the professor shocked the class when he came in.
He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, "GOD, if you are real, then
I want you to knock me off this platform... I'll give you exactly 15
min." The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes
went by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am GOD, I'm still
waiting." It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold. The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and stunned, and sat there
looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, "What in the world is the matter with you? Why did you do that?" The Marine calmly replied,
"GOD was too busy today protecting America's
soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid
stuff and act like an idiot. So He sent me." The classroom erupted in cheers!

  1. First of all, there is zero evidence that this ever happened. Secondly, this story is just one of several similar urban legends where the "plucky Christian" bests the "arrogant atheist professor". Third, just look at the story objectively, and you'll see its utter implausibility - from the behavior of the professor to the behavior of the other students to the behavior of the Marine. College professors are not likely to behave like the one in the story - they have their careers to think about. Marines on leave are not likely to assault civilians without provocation - they have their careers to think about as well. And entire classrooms of students are not just going to sit like slack-jawed dummies throughout this imaginary farce, especially when the professor is rendered unconscious by a physical assault. And they certainly wouldn't start cheering like idiots like they supposedly did at the end of this ridiculous tale. Fourth, if a supposedly omnipotent and omnipresent God was too busy protecting America's soldiers to knock a professor down, he is neither omnipotent nor omnipresent. As a matter of fact, considering the fact that many thousands of American soldiers have died in the current conflicts we are involved in (Afghanistan and Iraq) this god seems downright incompetent.

This ludicrous story is nothing more than feel-good propaganda made up by Christians, for Christians.

  2. BTW... the post regarding your dreams about your dad... you seem to have the comments turned off for that post but I just wanted to let you know I can relate to a great extent.
